Promptchan Review 2026: Is It More Than an AI Image Generator?

Promptchan feels a bit like two products sharing one account. One side is made for people who want to type a prompt and create a very specific image. The other adds AI girlfriends, story chat, voices, custom characters, and video.

Promptchan Quick Verdict: Who Gets the Most From It?

What Is Promptchan and What Is It Built to Do?

Promptchan is an adult AI creation platform for images, video, and AI companion chat. It works on the web and also supports iOS and Android. The image side lets you write a prompt, pick a style, control the pose, use a negative prompt, and create variations from public or personal images. The chat side lets you choose an AI companion or build your own character on Pro.

This makes Promptchan different from a normal AI girlfriend app. You do not have to begin with a chat. You can begin with an image instead.

Maybe you already know the exact hair color, clothes, body type, pose, and setting you want. Promptchan lets you build that visual first. Then you can use character and chat tools if you want to take the idea further.

The platform is for adults. Promptchan requires users to confirm they are at least 18 before creating an account.

Promptchan Key Features: Prompts Come First Here

Promptchan gives you plenty of tools, but the image generator is the natural place to start. Character chat, video, and voice make more sense after you understand how its visual system works.

How Much Control Do Promptchan Prompts Give You?

Promptchan lets you describe a person or scene in normal words. The prompt can be short, or you can add much more detail when you want a specific result.

You are not limited to text alone. The image creator also gives you controls for style, pose, framing, quality, and negative prompts. A negative prompt tells the AI what you do not want in the picture. That can help when a small detail keeps showing up in results.

You can also switch between looks such as photorealistic, anime, illustrated, and other styles without rewriting the full idea each time.

For us, this is the main appeal of Promptchan. It works well for users who like to adjust an image instead of accepting the first result.

Can You Remix Other Promptchan Images?

Yes. Promptchan has a public gallery where users can view creations and use them as a starting point.

The clone and remix tool copies the setup from an existing image. You can then change the prompt, pose, style, or other settings and make your own version. This saves time when you see a pose or look you like but want a different woman or setting.

Free accounts can browse and clone public creations. This also gives new users an easier way to learn how good prompts are built.

Can You Create Your Own AI Girl in Promptchan?

Yes, but full custom character creation is a Pro feature.

The character builder lets you choose her appearance, personality, voice, job, interests, background, and opening message. You can also set a scenario for the first chat. Promptchan currently offers more than 50 preset scenario ideas in its character setup.

There are two useful ways to make the visual side of the character. You can describe her appearance and let Promptchan make an image, or start from an image you already created on the platform.

That second option is a good fit for Promptchan. You can spend time getting the image right first, then turn that woman into a character instead of rebuilding her inside a separate girlfriend creator.

What Ready-Made AI Characters Does Promptchan Have?

You can skip the builder and choose one of the public AI companions instead.

Characters come with a name, picture, personality, backstory, and opening message. The public feed includes characters made by Promptchan and by its users. You can also filter by gender.

This part feels more like a classic AI girlfriend site. Pick a woman, open her profile, and start talking.

It is also the easiest option for free users because custom character creation belongs to Pro, while public character chat can be tried without a paid plan.

How Does Promptchan AI Chat Work?

Promptchan has two main ways to talk: Chat mode and Story mode.

Chat mode feels like normal texting. Story mode is built for longer scenes where you describe what happens and the AI continues the scene. You can switch between them, although Promptchan notes that a mode switch clears the current conversation history.

Characters have their own personality and backstory, and the system is made to keep them in that role during the conversation.

One clever tool links chat back to image generation. Create image from scene uses the current conversation to make a picture based on what the character is wearing, the location, and the mood. You do not need to rewrite the full visual prompt yourself.

Is Promptchan Good for Roleplay?

Yes. In fact, Story mode may be more useful than standard chat for users who like roleplay.

You set the situation, location, and character details. The AI then replies as part of that scene. A custom character can also have interests, background details, personality traits, and a preset scenario before the first message starts.

This gives roleplay more structure than a blank chatbot window.

Promptchan works especially well when you want the visual side to match the scene. You can make an image from the current chat and keep the same character involved.

Does Promptchan Allow NSFW Content?

Promptchan is built for adult AI content and openly offers uncensored image creation and adult AI chat. Its pricing page lists uncensored image generation as a feature across its plans, including free access.

The platform is 18+ and requires age confirmation during signup.

Adult content can appear in images, chat, and roleplay. Users still need to follow the platform rules and applicable law.

For people who only want standard portraits or anime art, adult content does not have to be part of the experience. Promptchan also works as a normal character and image creator.

How Good Is Promptchan AI Image Generation?

Images are still the biggest reason to use Promptchan.

You can create from text, choose photorealistic or anime-style output, set a pose, change framing, add a negative prompt, and remix old results. Paid plans increase image quality and add more pose and style choices. Pro raises image quality to 4K and gives access to all poses plus custom poses.

Paid users can also keep generations private instead of putting them in the public gallery.

This mix of prompt control and pose control is what makes Promptchan more useful than a one-button image tool.

Can Promptchan Generate AI Videos?

Yes. Promptchan can turn a generated image into a video, and it can also create video from a text prompt.

The full video package belongs to Pro. This tier includes AI video, video extension, and voice tools. It also gives users the largest Gem balance and unlimited casual generations.

Video extension matters if a short clip is not enough. Instead of creating a new clip from zero, you can continue an existing one.

For users who mostly make still images, Pro may be more than they need. For people who want AI characters to move and speak, the higher tier makes much more sense.

Can Promptchan AI Characters Talk With a Voice?

Yes. Characters can have their own voices.

A few voices are available without a high-tier plan, while paid access gives more choices. Voice messages cost 1 Gem, and live voice calls cost 2 Gems. Promptchan says voice calls work inside chat on both web and mobile.

Pro also lists AI Chat + Voice Call as part of its current feature set.

Voice is a nice extra because Promptchan starts as such a visual product. It gives a custom character another layer once you have already settled on her appearance and personality.

How Much Does Promptchan Cost in 2026?

Promptchan has a free tier plus Plus, Premium, and Pro.

The current pricing screenshot shows a 20% promotional discount:

The regular list prices on Promptchan’s official pricing page are $14.99 for Plus, $23.99 for Premium, and $33.99 for Pro. Promptchan also states that special prices can appear at checkout, which matches the 20% discount shown in the current offer.

What Can You Do With Promptchan for Free?

Promptchan’s free tier is more useful than a simple demo because it gives you daily Gems. No card is needed to start.

Free users can:

• Claim a daily Gem allowance.
• Create AI images.
• Start AI companion chats.
• Browse public characters.
• Browse the community image gallery.
• Clone public images and make new versions.
• Try different image styles.
• Test voice features when enough Gems are available.

The free plan is a good first look at both sides of Promptchan: image creation and companion chat.

What Do Promptchan Paid Plans Add?

Paid access matters once daily Gems become too small or you want better image tools.

Depending on the plan, paid users get:

• 100, 400, or 800 monthly Gems.
• HD image quality on Plus and Premium.
• 4K image output on Pro.
• More styles and poses.
• All poses and custom poses on Pro.
• Private generations.
• Custom AI characters on Pro.
• Full AI video tools on Pro.
• Video extension on Pro.
• Voice calls on Pro.
• Unlimited casual generations on Pro.
• 50% off extra Gem purchases.

Plus is the cheaper choice for basic image work. Premium gives more room for frequent creation. Pro is where Promptchan turns into the full image, character, chat, voice, and video package.
